Coaching or Therapy—What’s the difference?
The things we tell ourselves, consciously or unconsciously, become the stories we live in. They become so much a part of our being that we experience them as “the truth,” as reality.
And yes, they are our reality—for now.
Most of the time, we’re caught in familiar patterns of thought and emotion that are shaping the world we live in. They often sound like:
- “There just aren’t enough hours in the day.”
- “Life is hard.”
- “I always make mistakes.”
- “I don’t like change.”
- “I just can’t get it together.”
- “I’m not good at…”
The good news? These patterns don’t need to be permanent. With the right support, they can be reshaped, opening the way to new possibilities and life-affirming action.
Different Paths, Different Support
It’s often not easy to know which type of support will be most helpful on your journey. Different approaches meet different needs:
- Therapy often looks back. It can help you understand and heal from past experiences and trauma, uncovering patterns that may have shaped your life and supporting mental health.
- Classic coaching generally focuses forward—on goals, possibilities, and practical steps to get there. It can be highly effective for achieving specific outcomes and creating momentum in life.
- Holistic mindset coaching, the approach I offer, blends the two. Together, we explore where you are now, gain clarity on where you want to go, AND identify and release the patterns—traumas, beliefs, habits—that might be holding you back.
In my practice, we focus on what lies at the heart of the issues you’re facing and address the patterns that stand in the way of your goals.
Instead of being caught in the same old loops, you begin to feel clear, supported, and empowered to move forward.
And because you’re fully seen for who you are, you can bring your whole self—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual—to each session. That kind of presence is both life-affirming and transformative.
One of my clients recently shared this reflection with me, which I think says it beautifully (with small edits to keep it concise):
“I feel very freed in making mistakes. Before, I was hooked emotionally and full of dread about the consequences, always checking and re-checking everything. Now, it feels lighter—mistakes are just human, no big deal. I’ve even let go of the old pressure that I should have managed things differently. It’s such a relief and so liberating. I have so much more time and energy to focus on the positive actions that really make a difference. What a great gift!”
Whether your focus is personal growth, health & wellbeing, living with purpose, career/life transition, or relationship support, a holistic approach honours the whole of you. It’s less about fixing and more about unfolding—guiding you toward taking action that align with your values, purpose, and authentic self.
Sessions are offered in person, on Zoom, or by phone. Several clients have told me they love the ease of phone sessions as it allows them to show up fully without the pressure of getting ready or going anywhere.
